Por autonomía eléctrica, es claramente preferible a sus alternativas. La homologada (WLTP) es de 75 kilómetros; nosotros hemos recorrido casi 70 km (68), practicando una conducción normal y haciendo uso del climatizador durante el verano. Entre sus otras virtudes están un consumo de gasolina que casi siempre es bajo o moderado, un espacio interior abundante, unas prestaciones magníficas y un buen un nivel de confort para viajar. Toyota ha conseguido hacer un híbrido enchufable particularmente en venta por 49 500 euros con el nivel de equipamiento llamado Advance y por 58 350 euros con el Style Plus (no hay otros disponibles; fichas de precio y equipamiento). El RAV4 PHEV Advance se puede beneficiar de las ayudas del Plan MOVES III (hasta 5000 euros con achatarramiento; el precio quedaría en 44 500 euros), mientras que el Style Plus, con sus alternativas, es más caro y potente que un Hyundai Tucson PHEV (265 CV y 62 km de autonomía; desde 39 790 euros) y más barato que un DS 7 Crossback E-TENSE (300 CV y 54 km de autonomía; desde 52 581 euros). Listado de SUV híbridos enchufables, ordenado por precio, con potencias comprendidas entre 250 y 350 caballos. El sistema híbrido está compuesto por un motor de gasolina de 185 CV —de cuatro cilindros y 2,5 litros de cilindrada— y dos eléctricos, uno en el eje delantero de 182 CV y otro en el trasero de 54 CV (el RAV4 PHEV tiene tracción en las cuatro ruedas). La batería de la que toman la energía los motores eléctricos es de iones de litio y tiene una capacidad bruta de 18,1 kWh. Esta se carga en 7,5 horas en una toma de 10 amperios (2,3 kW) y en 2,5 horas en una de 32 amperios (en este caso, el coche no aprovecha los 7,4 kW que da esa instalación, dado que el cargador del coche admite una potencia máxima de 6,6 kW). En la sección de información técnica damos más detalles del sistema dos modos de conducción principales: eléctrico (EV) e híbrido (EV/HV). En modo EV, el motor de combustión no interviene aunque se pise a fondo el acelerador; solo lo hará en caso de que la batería se descargue hasta aproximadamente un 10 % o se superen los 135 km/h. El modo híbrido (se puede activar manualmente; también lo hace por defecto cuando la batería baja del nivel mencionado) combina automáticamente ambas fuentes de energía, aunque da prioridad al uso de la electricidad mientras haya carga en la batería. Hay dos modos de conducción adicionales, uno para mantener la carga de la batería en torno a un porcentaje concreto —este no se puede determinar manualmente a través de la pantalla central, sino que el sistema toma como referencia la carga que tenga la misma en el momento en que el conductor pulsa el botón de mantenimiento de carga— y otro para incrementar la carga de la batería quemando gasolina en el motor de combustión —es un recurso poco eficiente, pero útil si nos encontramos con poca carga y en unos kilómetros prevemos entrar en una zona restringida a vehículos de emisiones cero—. Adicionalmente, como cualquier otro RAV4, también tiene unos programas de conducción que modifican el funcionamiento de la dirección, el sistema de climatización, la entrega de potencia y el sistema de tracción total. Se llaman Eco, Normal, Sport y Trail (este último es específico para avanzar por terrenos deslizantes). Esta es una imagen del mando que sirve para seleccionar todos los modos y programas comentados en los últimos RAV4 PHEV está mejor aislado del ruido que el RAV4 220H. Toyota ha puesto más material fonoabsorbente en los pasos de rueda, el pilar delantero y tras el salpicadero. También ha sustituido las ventanillas delanteras de un vidrio simple por unas laminadas, es decir, por unas formadas por dos vidrios unidos entre sí por una de sus caras mediante una resina. El efecto de estas medidas se nota, no de una manera espectacular, pero definitivamente es un coche más silencioso y resuelve parte del problema de ruido que tiene el RAV4 220H (impresiones de conducción del Toyota RAV4 220H). El maletero tiene una capacidad de 520 litros, 60 menos que un RAV4 220H debido al mayor volumen de los componentes de su sistema híbrido. A efectos prácticos, esto se traduce en menos espacio bajo el piso del maletero (aunque hay el suficiente para guardar en él los cables de recarga) y en tres centímetros menos entre el piso y la cortinilla cubre equipajes. El maletero de un Tucson PHEV es más grande (558 l) y el de un DS7 Crossback E-TENSE, también (555 l). Los respaldos de los asientos posteriores se pueden abatir (están divididos en dos partes, 60/40) y formar una superficie continua con el plano de carga. Además de una toma de mechero de 12 voltios y 120 vatios, como en un RAV4 220h, hay una toma Schuko (como las de casa) de 230 voltios y 150 vatios (esto es exclusivo del RAV4 PHEV). La apertura eléctrica del portón es de serie. El paquete de asistentes a la conducción del RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid, denominado Toyota Safety Sense, cuenta con detección de obstáculos y peatones con frenada de emergencia, programador de velocidad activo, alerta por abandono involuntario de carril con mantenimiento del centrado, cambio automático de luces cortas y largas y reconocimiento de señales de tráfico. En el equipamiento de serie también está incluido un sistema de proyeción de información en el parabrisas, la posibilidad de precalentar el habitáculo a distancia y un sistema multimedia con pantalla de 8 o 9 pulgadas (Advance y Style Plus respectivamente) compatible con Apple CarPlay y Android Auto. Además, ambos sistemas multimedia tienen mayor capacidad de procesamiento que el de los RAV4 220H. Las llantas tienen un diseño específico y son de 18 o 19 pulgadas de diámetro (Advance y Style Plus respectivamente). El RAV4 PHEV tiene pequeños detalles de diseño que lo distinguen del resto de versiones. En el exterior es ligeramente distinto el aspecto de los parachoques y la parrilla; en el habitáculo es diferente el tapizado de los asientos. El espacio para los pasajeros no cambia (mediciones del habitáculo) y lo dicho en las impresiones del interior del Toyota RAV4 220H es totalmente aplicable a este RAV4 PHEV. Côté thermique, le 2,5 essence à cycle Atkinson gagne une poignée de chevaux (185 ch contre 178 pour la version full hybrid). Il est secondé par un premier bloc électrique de 134 kW (88 kW sur l’hybride) sur le train avant et un deuxième de 40 kW (puissance inchangée) sur le train arrière. Mais il affiche désormais un poids conséquent de deux tonnes… De toute façon, le dynamisme n’est pas le crédo de cet imposant SUV. En théorie, le RAV4 hybride rechargeable profite de sa « grosse » batterie pour promettre 75 km d’autonomie en 100 % électrique sur un parcours mixte et même 98 en ville. Une affirmation que nous avons pu vérifier lors de notre essai avec près de 80 km effectué sans réveiller le moteur thermique. Un tracé mêlant ville et route secondaire empruntées parfois à 90 km/h. Preuve des consommations contenues en électrique (environ 18 kWh/100 km pour un véhicule haut et très lourd). La sobriété est également de mise en fonctionnement hybride. Le RAV4 conserve un minimum de watts pour toujours proposer ses 306 ch et la transmission intégrale. Même en forçant le rythme, l’ordinateur de bord n’a jamais affiché plus de 7,7/100 km. Une très bonne valeur au vu des performances proposées. L’autre bonne nouvelle, c’est l’insonorisation réussie et la transmission automatique à variateur mieux gérée et qui jugule mieux les montées en régime lors des fortes accélérations.
